i think marc anthony has a way bigger fan base and following in the latino circles vs. jennifer lopez. more accurate to say he likely gave her more cred in those circles.

Maybe him asking her to shake her ass on national tv on the AMerican Idol finale was the final straw. I watched that and all I could think was holy crap, lady, have some dignity. You're supposedly a star in your own right, but here you are shaking it like a stripper with your back to the camera while your husband sings? It made me uncomfortable. but I'm admittedly a prude. I personally think she's gorgeous and more talented as an actor than a singer. I just hope the kids fare ok in all of this.

I think she retreated into the safety of Wife and Mother at a time when her career was an utter embarrassment. Perhaps the new contract with American Idol, the endorsements (Gucci, right?), and the new release had her comfortable heading out on her own again.

Who knows? She kinda seems like the type that would turn to her husband and say, "Don't you know who I am?" But no one ever really knows what goes on in another person's marriage. At least that's what I've learned.

She married him for street-cred in the latino community to rebuild her reputation after the Affleck disaster which took a toll on her career. She eventually became relevant again, and now that she is (for the moment) hotter than her DH, she's bailing on the mini-Skeletor and probably hoping for something better. Plus, she wanted babies and was smart enough to know she had to stick it out long enough for it to appear decent. She's a minimally talented diva. Who cares???

I saw him perform in a smallish venue in San Francisco in the 90s, when he performed mostly salsa music and no crossover pop music in English. His singing was divine, and he was a very charismatic performer. I was sad to see him later father children only to leave their mothers - especially the wife before JLo, that seemed really horrible of him.

I guess I'm not too surprised about him and JLo divorcing, as none of these matches seem to last too long. To the poster who thought he was gay: it would be interesting if that were the case, considering his and JLo's flirtation with Scientology and their friendship with other probably fake couples (Cruise/Holmes, the Pinkett-Smiths).

Do the Scientologist males dabble in homosexuality? Are they really gay, or is it some sort of rite of passage for a Scientologist? I don't get that "religion" at all.

Meh. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

She's a train wreck in the relationship dept. Always has been. Look at the string of victims behind her. She absolutely married him for the street cred with the latino audience. He was a salsa singer. She was a horrid pop singer who happened to be latina.

I laughed my ass off when I heard she was a judge on American Idol. 99% of those contestants sang better than she ever did. That said, she is a slightly better actor, an even better dancer and is, I have to admit (even at 40-gasp!) gorgeous!
