would you choose Mundo Verde or Inspired Teaching?

if mv does end up using the space at cap city, be careful about the park on 16th. has had problems. but hopefully, since the school will be invested in the space it will improve. right now alot of high schoolers hanging out inappropriately and homeless people.

How do the high schoolers hang out inappropriately? Are they literally "hanging out?"

People poop in the park on a fairly regular basis. When DPR redid the park recently, they didn't address this like they could have by putting down a rubber surface and/or putting port-a-potties just outside the playground perimeter.

Ew. Bummer.

part of being in a charter school in its founding years is putting up with a less than ideal location. if this is too much for you, traditional dcps or private school will be more comfortable for you.

Well if that's the case-- the headquarters for DPR is right next door. If MV ends up using the playground, parents and admin can approach DPR directly about port-a-potties and cleaning up the park (and public drinking). Not an insurmountable problem.

I recommend you start talking to DPR NOW! CCPCS lower school parents have attemtped without success. They have decided to just head down to Girard St Park which will be a bit of a walk from the Upper School location.

I've walked past this park on many occasions (on my way to DPR) and there are usually homeless (drunk?) men sleeping on the playgroup equipment. I don't live in the neighborhood but perhaps this is a job for the ANC and the police.

Someone has to call the police to get them move to other places. They really make the place stink. It's a health issue for the children.
Anonymous
Part of the issue is that there is a church next to the park that provides services to the homeless.

There is a homeless shelter in Mt Pleasant that is open from evening til breakfast, then kicks men out for the day.

Any word on locations next year for both schools? I am looking at PreK 3 lotteries but don't feel comfortable without knowing the location/commute factor. Any updates?

MV will be at Cap City upper school location (finalization of the lease negotiation currently happening according to an internal announcement by the school). Of course something could happen but so far no change.

You should just enter the lottery anyway. You can always turn it down if you happen to win the lottery but don't end up liking the location.
