Odd habits of our parents, let's compare.

My dad is also super-frugal. When my sister and I were about 9 and 10, he took us into the bathroom to give us a lecture about how "two squares" of toilet paper should be sufficient for wiping #1. My mom flipped, "Hon, they are GIRLS!" and after that he was not allowed to comment on our toilet paper usage.

whenever we came to a yellow stoplight as kids, my mom would sing:

"Hold tight, hold tight, hold tight
Fododo-de-yacka saki
Want some sea food mama!"

Apparently its a song from the 1940s. When I was very little I thought everyone sang at stoplights.

This reminds me of how DH and I used to make up rand sing andom songs about everything to DS when he was a baby. By the time he was 18 months old, he thought there was a song about anything and everything, and would ask us to sing - about the peas we were eating, about pooping, about shoes, you name it!

The music memories brought back one for me. My mom used to "play opera" with us as kids. As in, she would sing in operatic voice, "Honeey! Would you like some orannnge juiiice?" And we would sing back to her. It was really silly and super fun.

My mom was a goofball, and I loved it.

"Hold Tight" is actually a great song. The Andrews Sisters popularized it.

My dad always cleaned out the fridge by making "leftover omelettes" on Sunday mornings. It wasn't strange at all for him to serve us fried chicken or spaghetti omlettes as kids.

I am the PP and agree. I googled it as an adult and loved hearing it in its entirety.

Both my parents talk about going to "Panera's Bread" and "Best Buys." I used to correct them but I've given up.

This is awesome!!! jeans and dress socks with flannel! I'd love to see this.

Lol, my mom did this in the middle of the week, except everything went into the crockpot with a can of tomatoes or cream of mushroom soup. Then the "stew" was served over toast or noodles. We called it Wednesday night surprise!!
