Odd habits of our parents, let's compare.

My mother had this way of making rice. She boiled the rice in large amounts of water and let it cook w/o a cover. She then tested for doneness and then drained it in a colander. I used to think that was what a colander was for.

My father would pick up the phone when it rang, and say nothing. He thought it was upon the caller to first say something. Now that was odd, and some people would hang up. To this day he still does that!

My mom always hated it when her parents would call and tell her all about their gastrointestinal problems. Guess what, now she does the same thing to me!! She also never opens her personal mail, like birthday cards and such. She just lets it stack up on her desk. When she finally gets around to it, its like months later. When I sent her Valentine's day card I wrote, "Might as well say Happy Easter, cause thats when you'll open this!"

My father tucks his sweaters in his pants.

My mom tests the pasta by throwing a piece against the wall, if it sticks to the wall its not done, or maybe the other way around.

It's the other way around, and I do this now, just for fun. It's not a reliable test, but my kids think it's hilarious.

My mom puts her Listerine in a separate decanter, seriously, a wine decanter. She just can't stand to pour it from the plastic bottle!

My mom did the spaghetti against the wall trick a couple times, just for entertainment. It's not a habit, but she also made popcorn a few times (the old-fashioned way, in a pan with oil) while leaving the lid off and letting it fly everywhere; we then picked it up and ate it. It was hilarious to us as kids, but as a parent, I now think 1) Ew. Floor food. 2) Who's going to clean this up?? and 3) danger! hot splattering grease and kernels! burns!

It was painful because my mother has 4-5 inched nails.
I remember my sisters friend came over and my mom just went to work on her face.
*Cringe*

My mom has bad allergies and always seems to have a runny nose. She will shove a kleenex up her nostril leaving the rest hang out (around the house only). It's gross, but at least she doesn't spend all day blowing her nose or sniffling. My DD picked up this habit during our last visit.

That generation was just fun! We need to get back to that!
