Wow. I agree with the poster above and cannot believe how many people are posting their speculation. Even if you think somehow you know what happened, or are a capable long-distance judge because somebody told you there was alcohol involved, how do you feel about the impact your remarks will have on her husband or children, should they ever read them? Have you stopped to imagine how it would feel for that man or those kids to read your callous and judgmental remarks about a woman who is not hear to tell her side of the story? Just...wow. |

assuming the autopsy was correct and she was severely intoxicated, then I think we are honestly very lucky she didn't kill anyone else if she was so drunk that she couldn't even drive into a garage. if the autopsy was wrong, or if somehow she ingested that much alcohol involuntary (and how is that possible?), then she is the victim and the truth needs to be uncovered.
either way, of course she and her family are the victims here, and nothing we write here is going to lessen their pain. I think it normal however to comment on high-profile accidents and to speculate, and hopefully we can learn from the tragedy. drunk driving kills people every day, and it is newsworthy. |
Just a drunk lady who crashed her car, luckily she didn't kill anyone else
|
I do not know the circumstances around her death, but I am acquainted with the family and a lot of the speculation about them has been baseless. FWIW, some folks work for administrations for a few years or a whole term, then return to more family-friendly hours. I know a handful of folks who've done it. |
I want to thank the lobbyist folks who shared information with us about the general lifestyle and what kind of socializing is required as part of the business. Very interesting. Thanks! |
13:07, I like your spirit. You should join us. We have a lot of fun... |
Not, 13:07 - But I think I'd love to be a lobbyist. How do you get started in that field? I have a lot of business experience, including the fields of insurance, health care, gas & power. |
Work on the Hill and have influence with and access to Hill staffers and members of Congress. |
And sell your soul to the devil. |
I am shocked that in the DC area of all places there is so much ignorance about the function of lobbyists. |
17:17, while I think lobbyists are similar to lawyers and that all sorts of folks benefit from representation, do Tony Podesta and Bob Livingston really need to pimp out for Mubarak and other autocratic regimes? |
I'm a defense attorney and I regularly encounter doctors who will say absolutely ANYTHING for the right fee. That doesn't make me think all doctors are unethical. Get the distinction? I guess I give people too much credit but I thought intelligent adults would understand the whole "broad brush" thing. Sigh. |
Hmmm . . . perhaps the good people of the DC area have had so many experiences with lobbyists that their opinions reflect an exceptional degree of knowledge about the function of lobbyists, rather than "so much ignorance." |
It's not strange, it's not suspicous! The fact of the matter is that she was white and well-to-do. No one wants to believe that she was part of the growing number of affluent, white mothers that get completely hammered on a daily basis. She probably drove her three small kids around drunk, thank GOD they were not in the car at the time. Now, if it were a mother who was black or hispanic - people would be outrraged and not surprised at all. I had to go searching by this woman's name to find out what the result of the investigation were, and even then, just a meer two articles came up reporting that she was drunk, with no mention of comments from her family. Sweep it under the rug when it's white suburban mom! She was hammered! This is exactly as it appears. No mysterious stranger came and funneled chardonnay down her throat. As mothers we need to put down the wine glass and stop making a joke of needing to be drunk to tolerate motherhood. It's not that bad! You're not beating your clothes on a rock anymore, are you??!!
Sincerely, White Mom of biracial children |
