| The recent flood of Northeast and Midwestern kids going to SEC schools has to be hurting Syracuse. Much better weather, sports, and 50-60% of the cost. |
There’s not really evidence that there’s a flood |
| ^your right it’s a tidal wave! |
So UC Merced is on par with Syracuse now? |
|
Not all colleges are being impacted. Some like Tulane, Syracuse, UVM are being hurt. Colleges like Florida, Georgia, SMU, are getting more and more applications. The Boston colleges are doing great and all getting record application. NYU isn't having trouble.
The ones struggling have some pointed deficiency. Syracuse's location doesn't help it, just like Tulane's after Katrina. UVM and Syracuse both suffer from the same isolated hinterland stigma. |
UVM has skiing. |
I didn’t go to Syracuse but have several friends who did, and almost everything they wear is orange. The cult of Syracuse is strong, lol. |
I would not think a kid going to either school is that exceptional, the syracuse kid is probably richer. |
Exactly. the reason why Merced does better in the rankings is because of social mobility. Basically what pp stated.. kids at Syracuse are just wealthier. That's it. |
I do not see U of Rochester merging into SUNY. Whatever makes you say that? |
UVM has a great location. |
evidence? |
Theater. Their theater program is quite strong. |
I just wonder if these struggling schools should just drop their tuition 20%, instead of charging close to $100,000 them giving significant financial aid to half the class. The price tag chases off everyone but the very rich and very poor. |
The colleges need to veer a bit right to the middle and away the crazy far left panic over the environment and population control that they have been preaching the past 2-3 decades. They need to moderate their teachings instead of scaring everyone into not having children. |
