If folks are concerned about money right now (with gas prices what they are) you’d never know it by how many people were out shopping.

And don’t get me started on the 10 year old girls I saw in full faces of makeup, acrylic nails, and highlighted hair…

This is why I default to shopping online and end up returning half the stuff I buy. It’s not good.

Does anyone really enjoy just going to the mall (especially when the weather is so nice?!?!).

End rant…

How about you take your misogyny and judgment of "10 year old girls" elsewhere?

How about you just stick to your "default" if being out in public is going to rile you up this much?

How about you not get so worked up about a simple statement.

You think misogynistic creeping and judging on 10 year old girls is a "simple statement"? Ok. Lol. Whatever you say.

Exactly!

DP - where is the misogyny in observing that very young girls are adopting looks and products that were originally intended for and only seen on grown women. This has been a topic for a few years now - the beauty industry catering to younger teens and girls. The misogyny is letting corporations do this, not observing that it's happening.

Are the 10 year old girls earning money to purchase acrylic nails? Obviously they are getting it from their parents so I blame them. And from my conversations with other moms many of them are 100% ok with their pre adolescent daughters dying their hair blonde, wearing false eyelashes and nails, and using social media as long as it makes them popular. That’s their number one priority.

I thought we were talking about Tysons being chaotic (it's not), but again posters have an agenda to push.

You don’t have to be spending tons of money to be AT the mall. Window shopping with a drink costs about $5. Kids can be dropped off and stay safe, adults can walk with or without kids because there’s no cars and there’s air conditioning. Let people live damn.

Sad. Consumerism at its best. So glad I got out of that area.

Highly unlikely you ended up anywhere as diverse as Tysons on a busy weekend. It turns out people of all races and incomes like to patronize a safe commercial area.

I feel that way the few times that I go into Tysons Galleria as well, but I've read that it's actually incredibly profitable. Evidently, there's a lot of private shoppers, plus most of the higher end stores have a very high profit margins.

I like it. All the stores are above average.

We are lucky to have such a beautiful mall. So many stores, the people watching, good eats, so much browsing, catch a movie, test drive a car, enjoy walking, etc. Love 💕 Tysons!

Most of this comment is pointing out how malls are not necessarily about consumerism but a safe space to walk around. It specifically mentions window shopping. If it’s a rainy day and you want to get out of the house, getting lunch and roaming the mall to get in 10,000 steps is a nice option. You really don’t have to be consuming to be there.
