There always has to be one in the thread. I’m concerned about what media you are consuming to be a controlling dckbag…..

Teens have acne, I’m 46 and used concealer as a teen back when social media didn’t exist

Teens aren’t using concealer over acne like it’s 1995. It makes acne worse anyway. She wants concealer bc the influencers use it heavily around the eye area for the airbrushed look.

No, that’s incorrect.

She may have bloody skin and she just wants it even out.

You’re being pushed 1995 content because you’re old they have very light tinted lotions for teens that do not cause acne.

She won't look caked, and their concealer is excellent and buildable. They also have other fun stuff in there. The "kids" love it (and so do I!}

I’m one of the posters who recommended Ulta or Sephora. My teen daughter loves this place and I don’t wear makeup. I find it overwhelming, intimidating and confusing every time we go. I would NOT suggest it for a first time makeup young girl and dad.

You find Glossier confusing? It's a "no makeup" makeup look, and there is basically just one of everything -- a concealer, a mascara, etc. It is far less confusing than a place like Sephora with a thousand options, and there is no risk of her walking out looking like a drag queen.

For foundation, she needs to learn her shade and her undertone (warm, cool, neutral). If she tans a lot in the summer she may need different shades for different seasons.

Concealer either matches skin, is yellow toned to balance out dark circles, or is green toned to cover red blemishes.

Makeup counter sales people will help her figure it out.

I just went to Sephora last night with my 13 year old for concealer. She has dark hyperpigmentation from acne scars. But she is also on stage so sometimes she needs a polished look. Talk to the salesperson, and test out colors and brands. We found one she likes for under $20.

Trust me. If she has acne or blemishes, color corrector then foundation will be a bigger help than concealer.

What’s more important than the product is the tool. Makeup brushes and sponges and a makeup brush cleaner set is key. These stores are a trap. You think you’re going for one product. Then, you find out you actually need five more. Then, the sales rep will ask you about a setting powder, why not a bronzer or blush, may as well add a lip gloss, and some mascara. Concealer or foundation just on its own can make the face look flat or dull as it’s uniform in color. Adding blush, bronzer, lip gloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner helps give color to the face. You’re likely going to spend about 100-200 dollars or more at Sephora. It easily becomes an addiction to girls. Eventually, she’ll realize she doesn’t need all these products and scale down to her fave. This is the age where she experiments with her look/her beauty. Good luck! She will see what her friends compliment and what works best for her in natural lighting and in photos and what absolutely doesn’t

Macy’s is another nice option. It skews older but they tend to be more conservative when it comes to makeup application.

Nobody asked you to weigh in on whether or not it's a good idea. This is a very common interest at 14. He asked for help on where to start. Butt out.

No, concealer isn’t a common interest at 14. It’s simply pushed my influencers to make money. There is zero functional purpose

so you didn't cover your pimples at 14? I was.

Teens use pimple patches now to cover pimples, not concealer

+2.
FWIW, my DD and I both use Tarte Shape Tape. It's great and you can start with very small tubes.

Go to Sephora and test things out. My middle schooler and her friends love the Tower 28 concealer.
