I feel really bad for the wife and kid.

When reported to admin?

Supposedly back during COVID.

Prior Admin, pre-COVID 2017/2018 ish.

According to a WJ Discussion group, there were camera's found but there was not enough evidence. I'm not ready to lay this at the feet of MCPS but school systems have to be better about taking risks and firing people who they suspect of wrongdoing. Let's the unions fight, take the risk of a lawsuit or simply remove them from direct interaction with kids.

Are you saying that cameras were discovered before April 7 2026 and ignored??? What!!?? This arrest was the result of video evidence that was discovered on April 7, 2026? Adults viewed the evidence on April 15 and the suspect was arrested same day.

Name this stuff ppl. Please. It's the only way to address anything. Denial and DARVO (look it up) does harm, at best

What NY does is put staff in "detention". They get paid to come to office and sit in a chair all day while their disciplinary cases are processed.

I would have them do some kind of safe work if they want to keep getting paid.

Strange that the charge would be sexual abuse but the videos aren't legally sexual abuse material. I guess the sexual abuse the camera itself, not what it filmed?

The timing of this is worrying. MCPS is known for releasing news that they think will be poorly received on a Friday right after school lets out. They want the dust to settle before Monday morning. This information was released in that same time and that worries me because it makes me think they knew about it before, and did the whole MCPS wait til Friday at 2:45 thing to let the community know. That is infuriating when kids are involved.

This employee was the elected SEIU rep for his school. Given the offense, even with his position in the union, I don't see the union fighting this. The vast majority of SEIU members are decent people and work hard to support students.

I work in leadership in a company with a tiny union and their posture has always been to rush to the aid of the employee, regardless of the offense. Because we are a private company we will often lead with a severance agreement to get the person out the door. I'm guessing that big unions want to feel like they are earning their dues.

I work in labor law and the philosophy varies a lot across unions. Some unions will grieve anything but not take much to actual arbitration. They might grieve this just because they grieve everything but they 100% are not really going to fight it, given the evidence. Had the school fired him over girls saying he “seemed creepy” I’m sure the union would have arbitrated that. But I think the school could have transferred him to a central office position and the union probably would not have been able to do much about that.

It’s a little unclear to me but it seems like some people are saying cameras were discovered in around 2018 and there was some suspicion it was him, but there was no proof as to who placed the cameras so no action was taken. I have a bunch of questions but one of the questions I have is whether the police were called about that and whether the cameras were fingerprinted, for instance, or other efforts made to determine who owned them.
People are saying he had been removed from a position dealing directly with students because girls complained about side hugs that they felt were inappropriate (eg hands were not on shoulders).

The school sent the letter out on Thursday just after noon.

Nothing about this is surprising at all. I'm aware of several current employees, for example, who transferred from other school districts, districts that were aware of their problematic behavior. When things blow up, people are initially shocked, and then it all comes out. It's a sad situation all around.

He should have never been allowed to be in a school after the first accusations surfaced.

News reported at noon Thurs Apr 16 which was first day of 4th quarter. Was the district then forced to send out a message or did the message go out to school community before media? The WJ Spring play was scheduled for April 10, 11, 12, 17, 18. At least three performances happened before news report. Meaning news came out after theatre rehearsals were over and season was winding down.

As the parent of a junior, I want to know how long he has worked there and if any other videos are recovered. My child recognized him immediately.

He has been there for a long time. I'm not going to quote from the rumor mill, but I won't be surprised if this has been going on for a long time.

I hope they do a forensic search of his computer equipment and accounts. Who knows how long he has been doing this and if he has posted footage on-line? It's a terrible violation of these young women.

They are mostly minors. Not women.

Is minor now considered a gender? Too confusing to keep up with these days.
