Unfathomable. |
| DH is a musician and vetoed both Bruno and Axel. My son is such an Axel, so it's a bummer. |
I don't think either spouse (husband or wife) should be able to eliminate so many options by vetoing THAT many names from the jump. It basically takes away any input from the other parent. I wouldn't have agreed to that. The top 10 list is also ever-changing based on what is trendy at the moment, so what's the point? It won't be the same list as it is now in 5 years. In my view, vetoes should only be used for names that you really wouldn't be able to tolerate. |
| I said no to Deja but it would have been ok in hindsight. Felt strongly that it wasn't a "real name." Ended up having a boy. |
Love that one as well. Was an ex so was off the table for me |
| Whenever I hear the name Arabella I think of the scene from Three’s Company where Jack Tripper is in the bushes calling out the name Arabella and comedy ensues. |
I think any four syllable name becomes too much unless there is a nickname, or it can be said quickly without too much effort (Olivia/Amelia). I have a three syllable name and people try to shorten it often. |
My mother in law really thought we should name our son Ariel, for it's biblical roots. |
Melvin and Howard! This man should get no say whatsoever. |
Remember that show A Baby Story on TLC? I saw an episode once where the mom had boy/girl twins, then she was pregnant with another set of boy/girl twins, whom she named Deja and Dejan for Deja Vous. So cringey. |

He vetoed Lena, Julia, Genevieve, Iris, Petra, and Joseph.
I vetoed Wilson and Grover. |
| I wanted Serena but DH said it reminded him of Serena Van der Woodsen. I also wanted Summer but DH said it reminded him of Summer Glau. I vetoed Mona for obvious reasons. |
That makes three of us. My husband said it was too harsh of a name. |
Thank you for your service. To put this politely, your husband has bad taste. Wilson? Wilson is a last name. GROVER? Was he naming a human being or a golden retriever?! I don't even care that there was a president with this name. It's a full-fledged dog name at this point. |
Ivanka named her daughter Arabella. That tells you all you need to know. |
