My bet: a WJ zoned geezer trying to perfectly time his property sale before departing for Florida. For WJ property value maximization it is not enough to have strong WJ HS. It also needs weak neighboring schools.

Opening Woodward at 91% puts them right in the same boat VERY quickly. MCPS plays this little game by only looking at actually approved new developments, while ignoring all the development we all know is coming.

In my opinion, MCPS was catering to Wheaton over the utilization issue over Woodward. But that’s not what all the analysis and numbers pointed to - that’s why we hire unbiased consultants.

It will be interesting to see what they bring back to the BOE, if we get to see that.

I also listened to the tape and didn’t hear any parents saying anything bad about FARMs students. They really didn’t deserve the criticism they received and I don’t that is appropriate commentary from a board member. That type of public criticism can dissuade the public from exercising their first amendment rights.

No, they weren't catering to Wheaton. They added 500 seats to Wheaton above what is listed for Wheaton HS in the CIP. Those seats do not exist. They are quietly promising the Wheaton cluster they will build them out in Edison (which is a separate school that has its own enrollment and staff), but there is no money for that. It's extremely irresponsible to suggest that when there is plenty of capacity within the existing school buildings, if you draw the boundaries correctly. This is why the Council distrusts MCPS so much. They are liars. As it is, if you use the capacity for Wheaton HS that is listed in the CIP, the Superintendent's recommendation leaves Wheaton HS over capacity.

Then they need to figure this out.

Where can we watch Rita's diatribe that people referenced?

My bet: a WJ zoned geezer trying to perfectly time his property sale before departing for Florida. For WJ property value maximization it is not enough to have strong WJ HS. It also needs weak neighboring schools.

Says the Farmland guy whenever there is any differing view.

Anyone know the admissions process for Charles E Smith? It's about to get real popular.

Why is everyone just now realizing that Woodward is a DCC school with fresh coat of paint? Wasn't it always going to be the case? Why everyone so surprised? That's the true surprise...that everyone is so surprised.

I don’t think this is true. They could have moved even fewer kids out of WJ and still had it in the ideal range of utilization. This is close to a 50/50 split of WJ. And the proposed Woodward is 2.5 elementary schools from WJ and 2 from Wheaton. And the fresh coat of paint language is weird because it’s a brand new school.

Ignore the troll.

Okay now that that is done, can we push for a better magnet program at Woodward now?

That will be interesting to see if many Farmland families go private for HS once the changes take effect. Many can certainly afford CESJDS

And here you are. I forgot to mention that the poster I was describing before likes to insert antisemitic tropes from time to time.

If you want to fool anybody with your barrage of posts like it is multiple people, you have to mix it up with writing style. Your natural style, that of an insufferable douchebag, is easily recognizable.

If this was reverse, and WJ was getting more FARMS kids, you know the elementary school parents at Ashburton, Wyngate, and KP would be doing the exact same thing as the Farmland and Luxmanor parents.

That is called prejudice. Own it

Yup - and why isn’t WJ getting any higher FARMS kids?
