My 12 yo's irritability is off the charts

Came here to say this. Both my 14 year olds went through a patch like this at this age. I freaked out with the first one and had him evaluated, etc. Turns out it was just puberty and it stopped after a major growth spurt. A few months later the other one went through it and I was like, aha!

Not to dismiss anything but I listened to a podcast about 13 year olds and the psychologist said that the irritability of puberty can come on suddenly and 13 can be the worst - certainly that is what we have experienced! I guess I thought that it would be more gradual. That said OP should still give her kid a break from meds to see if it impacts mood. easy enough to do that.
