When my kid was at Hamm I caught him on the back of an e-scooter flying down Wilson blvd with no helmet….he met my eyes and nearly sh@t his pants. He was on lockdown for a bit. He outgrew that stuff—but those are the high risk-taking years for boys. I certainly wouldn’t have him a match (an e-bike) to the gasoline.
Parents need common sense. They need to PARENT. Yes- kids will do stupid sh@t—-but you don’t supply the stuff to them. |
This is just beyond comprehension to me. Do people not remember being young teens? I mean WTF. Don't parents of 13-year-old boys ASSUME they are being reckless? I don't know really get my knickers in a twist about that much but seeing these kids act like maniacs on their e-bikes makes me furiously angry. Some poor person is going to kill one of them and it won't be her fault at all but she'll live with it for the rest of her life. |
It's kids who are not old enough to have drivers' licenses. |
These kids going 35 mph through red lights at crosswalks are going to kill a pedestrian —THE KID will also have to live with it along with his dumb @ss parents that essentially bought him a motorcycle disguised as a bicycle at 12-14. |
still waiting on this.... |

It’s the same type of loser parent who have sons who repeatedly drive drunk and its widely known and they’d have to be in an actual coma not to realize what is happening in the car they provide to the kid.
It’s inexplicable. These people should be shunned. |
Obviously its not in the DMV. It would be all over the news. |
The full head helmets also gets me. Hey dumb parents- if you need to buy that to accompany an e-bike for a 14 year old maybe it’s not a good idea?? |
| I'm in South Arlington and have noticed the same (both white and non-white kids) on electric bikes and scooters, very erratic. They come bombing down the massive hill on Walter Reed and are so unsafe around Four mile run. I drive home in the late afternoon when the sun is directly in everyone's eyes and I am so worried there will be an accident. |
| ^^ and the walkers they are blowing by on the sidewalk and trains and crosswalks aren’t wearing helmets ! |

This is my worry. I have a 16 year old driver. He’s cautious but he’s 16. You put him on the road with a 12 year old on a dirt bike and it’s going to be my kid’s fault if the dirt bike zooms in front of him. |
| It is getting insane— pouring rain tonight almost hit one flying around corner - no helmet no lights on almost dark out. He did not stop at stop sign! Someone is going to die if they do not learn the road rules and basics! |

Ha I just happened to be watching real housewives of Beverly Hills and Rachel Zoe mentioned her son being in an e-bike accident.
I googled it. 14. Lacerated kidney. Great plan parents! |
I will try to be sufficiently vague but in the 8th grade at DHMS everything stems from a deeply troubled child whose parent is an e-biker who does not wear a helmet nor make their younger child wear one when they drive them to elementary school. There’s a lot more going on in that family but there’s not much anyone can do about it. |
