The husband doesn’t want people to assume the son is black based on his name. Instead of saying that, he’s saying it’s “appropriation.” Typical white liberal nonsense. |
It's really no more complicated than many names that have traveled across cultures and centuries. |
But there's been no change in the way the letter X is pronounced in English when it is the first letter in a word. The names Xenia and Xerxes, the musical instrument the xylophone are all pronounced in English as if they start with the letter Z. As is Xavier. Eg-zavier is a mispronunciation, just like eg-zylephone would be. Sure, you can call your kid that if you want to, just like you could name your son Philip and call him "Pillup" because you think a name that starts with a P should sound like a P. It would still be a mispronunciation. |
1000%. The husband doesn't want his child's name to be associated with black people. All of these liberal white savior types are like this. They're fine going to protest for nonwhite people, but they ultimately do not want to live near them, share names with them, etc. They're truly the epitome of the separate but equal mentality in their own personal lives. |
How the heck is the X is xylophone silent? Do you think the y is making the "zz" sound? |
This. |
LOL. Some people on this site are so earnestly stupid. That said, Phillip (pronounced Pillip) is firmly in the running for a DS. |
^^this is meant to support the PP just before me questioning how the x is silent. I agree with the PP questioning it. Not the earnest id insisting the x is silent. so... ylophone? |
