My DD are 14 is all about study abroad and never coming back. My DS age 16 wants to study abroad as well. Both have been paying attention to the news and A students. I have zero problem with their choices. When they leave I'm leaving too. DH is a white guy who was never about moving out of state but even he has become open to the idea of not being here. This country is slowly but surely changing. It's not the country that was even a few yrs ago. While everything changes, our changes are horrifying. You all talk about pros and cons and not knowing how good we have it here with opportunities, freedoms and choices. Y'all understand all that's disappearing correct???! |
I have lived in several European countries and in Japan and even with the prevalent misogyny of trump and his administration, the US is still better. The grass is not greener on the other side. |
| One thing that hasn't been mentioned in the cost of childcare. It is much lower in European cities than in US cities. And maternity leave is also far more generous. |
| 40% of American women under 45 want guys that are at least six feet tall, with a six pack that make six figures and are Democrats. The problem is that those guys are all gay. |
Talk about clueless - a 50 something dude lecturing young women about their opportunities. And BTW, you must have missed the abortion law talking point debunking. Even countries with stricter laws have broad exceptions for life and health of the mother. Women in Europe aren’t dying of sepsis and pre-eclampsia because doctors are afraid of being prosecuted for saving their patients’ lives. |
Blah blah blah. Just GO already! |
| If any of you had bothered to check the methodology, you would see only 1,008 Americans were interviewed for this. ; |
True. |
Europeans don’t like Americans, they will take your tourist cash but don’t bank on them offering you a job and promote you into senior ranks. |
In my home country it’s legal to offer 20% less salary for woman doing the same job as a man. And I am talking about desk jobs like accounting and auditing. If you have kids forget about getting promoted to manager. And for being immigrant with poor communication and shitty personality, I am just one rang below VP with an American company. |
What would be a statistically valid sample size for this study? |
You don't seem like a shitty person at all. |
True, although it hasn't translated to higher birth rates. Europeans continue to believe that they are not financially able to raise a child. It may be that market simply doesn't support higher fees for childcare. |
I think the affordability / size of housing is a big one people ignore. If you can only afford a 1 bedroom apartment, no way are you having 3 kids regardless of the childcare subsidy. |
+1. Would love it if 40% of the country left. America is a too crowded. |
