Thoughts on Libby as a nickname for Elizabeth?

Four pages and not one person remembers Queen Elizabeth’s nickname: Lilibet, which is much better than Libby (sorry, connection to peas won’t go away). And there’s also Lizbeth, which is much more dignified. You don’t want to send a “Libby” to law or medical school. Giver her a nickname that can be better used as an adult

I suspect it's because we all had some negative experience with a mean girl named Beth sometime around 1985. Just me?

No, I suspect most of us in the expectant forum were not in grade school in 1985…?

My best friend has a Libby. I don’t love the name but it has grown on me because of this kid.

I love Beth, it’s my middle name (without the Eliza) and I’m from the South so half the people in my like use my first and middle names for me. I’m both Larla and Larla Beth and I don’t care which people use.

I love Libby. It has good memories attached for me. Also love Bizzie.

I know a lawyer called Libby. She’s very smart and professional. If you’re good at what you do, your name won’t hold you back (at least, so long as it isn’t “ethnic,” since there is proven negative bias re that sort of name).

I know people who are lawyers and doctors named Bambi, Happie, Zizi, Honey and Spring. This isn’t 1950 anymore- names aren’t holding people back.

I don't consider Lilibet or Lizbeth any more dignified than Libby.

Lilibet is bad because there's only one (well, now, 2). It's like naming your kid Farrah. I also don't think Lilibet sounds very mature.

I know a judge, a doctor, and a professor named Libby.

It’s far more dignified and mature-sounding than Lizzie or even tons of mainstream names like Emily which sound very “little girl” to me.

Sorry, not a fan. I like Eliza better. Or Beth or even Betsy. Libby reminds me of Judy Blume

Lilibet is a made up nickname of one person: a beloved, globally recognized queen.

When H&M used it, the world reactively negatively.

Why on earth would anyone suggest it? It’s like naming your kid Cher, Madonna, Elvis, Diddy, Beyoncé, etc.

My Elizabeth is a Libby. She equally goes by Elizabeth and Libby. Sometimes Libs.

I love it. I know one and it suits her perfectly.
