Lyddy makes no sense as there are no “d”s in Elizabeth.

There's no S or Z either, but Lizzy and Bess are both nicknames for Elizabeth.

?? There is a Z. And in the alternate spelling, there is an S (Elisabeth).

Best comment of the thread. Keep pouring that wine!

Bill makes no sense as there are no “b”s in William.

Lyddy MIGHT be a nickname for Lydia. Definitely not Elizabeth.
I love the nickname Libby. It’s cheerful. My husband’s grandmother was Elizabeth, nickname Libba

I love it and it was my dream nickname for my dd. Sadly it was too close to my first daughters name to use.

Lisa and Beth are dated. So is Liz

That’s the name of my online public library book app.

Personally I prefer Elizabeth as a full name but Libby is cute. It’s nice to have both options.

Elizabeth/Elisabeth is a flexible name: Beth, Bess, Liza, Lisa, Libby, etc.

Libby is fine--just make sure your new child is a female or prepare for constant teasing.

I had an Aunt Libby whose full name was Liberty. I always thought Liberty was such a cool name and wondered why she didn’t use it.
