| Who goes to Emory no sports or school spirit. |
I thought the running theme on these two were that they game ED... which is it? Nobody wants to go there unless they're rejected at all the Ivies or everyone over-commits via ED? |
1. Your kids are at a T-20 and applied Tufts/Emory as safeties. 2. You were rejected by Emory or Tufts. 3. The last time you were around college admissions was 1990. 4. You went to Emory or Tufts as a fallback in 1990. Where is the hate coming from?just guessing. |
No hate for either. I think both are strong! I was responding to/ asking for clarification from someone seeming to hate both, though. |
| My kid looked at both Tufts and Emory and did not apply to any Ivies or other T-10’s. They were high stats, personable, significant but ordinary EC’s, did not have what whatever narrative or “it” factor to give them a shot at a T-10. They knew it, and adjusted their expectations accordingly and happily. I suspect many kids are doing the same. Top Kids coming into the college process today don’t even have the same expectation of getting into a T-10 as we did a generation ago. |
LOL. Apparently a whole bunch of students care about NYU. More than 100k a year apply to it. Same for BU and NEU. |
| There are a lot more kids than those who get into top25 schools that apply to 2nd level schools NYU, BU, BC, NEU, etc. But the $95k a year question why. U Florida is ranked better than any of those privates and has better sports and much better weather. Add in UGA even Ohio State. Those schools attract the slightly above average kids and those privates don’t have the alumni coonections of the top schools- Ivies, Stanford, or Duke. |
If "2nd level" means top 50 ( out of 4000+), I'll take 2nd level. Thanks. |
#1 and sick of emory boosters. Except they and I went to a top 2 school |
hopkins is extremely grade inflated (over 3.8 average college gpa) and hasnt been cutthroat for over a decade now. you might want to reorient yourself. cornell with grade deflation is rougher than jhu |
Because it’s Catholic and very White. |
+100 Although the college counselor encouraged DS, he would not even consider Emory. Got into ND and loves it. Also for the ones who do apply to both, 63% choose ND |
For humanities only? Is it the same for bioengineering? Any link or source? |
NDs yield for a school with no ED is simply insane. Perfect size and undergrad emphasis; should easily be a top 15 school. |
| Emory is very nerdy one dimensional vibe. More like a southern Wesleyan. |
