USAID funding - sad conversation

We can help both.

Unfortunately, the current administration will help neither.

So we help Africa’s population grow, Africa can’t support the population growth, refugees from Africa flood Europe. This sounds like a bad plan.

Supporting women’s rights and increasing education levels is the exact recipe for reducing population growth. That’s why population growth is higher in the most impoverished nations while family size in modern industrialized nations is much lower. How do you not know this basic fact? Are you truly that fontana or are you arguing in bad faith? How can you be so uninformed about the basic contours of this issue if you claim to care so much about it?

Them: We should focus on care in the US and not spending it all over the place.

Us: OK! Let's have universal health care and free school lunch!

Them: That's socialism!

OP, like a PP said, there are people who do not care about others. You can't fix them.

+1

Magadumb

But let's be real. Maga isn't about "taking care of our own". It's about wanting to be able to afford more crap, but oopsies, them tariffs have raised prices on the crap we want to buy from walcrap.

Access to family planning and contraceptives are key to lifting communities out of poverty. The destruction of USAID was intentional. There are 9.7 million dollars worth of contraceptives paid for and sitting in a warehouse in Belgium, soon to go to France for incineration. They could easily be distributed to the African countries they are slated to go to, but the Trump administration now claims most are abortifacients and don’t align with their beliefs. Several orgs have stepped up and offered to pay for them and distribute, with no cost to the US. Instead we are willing to pay $200K to burn them.

Another example of cruelty being the point.

OK! Let's clean up the mess at home.
Where are all our savings and are we seeing it funneled to the most vulnerable populations in the US?
