USAID funding - sad conversation

People on the Trump train aren't able to change their viewpoint and oppose Trump on any issue because if they do they realize the house of cards they've built starts to come down really quickly.

It is not the responsibility of the U.S. to stop babies from dying due to a disease that easily stopped with basic sexual education. That needs to happen at a level that the U.S. has not, and can never change. That needs to happen culturally in those countries.

The majority of the children never get any basic medical care even at birth, let alone an education, and they live in mud huts with no clean water. Bush but his creation of the PEPFAR program and how that program has saved millions of lives will be an enormous part of his legacy.

There are numerous audits each year of federal agencies to determine fraud (OIG and GAO). If there is fraud, it’s extremely low and rare.

Sadly, I agree. I'm a PP and in impoverished countries the men often abandon their wives when a child is born with a disability. Some believe the devil is involved or the child isn't theirs.

This doesn't make sense. Liberals would probably need to divert funds from other nonprofits to fill the gap of USAID since most aren't rich.

It gave us multiple angles for soft power via winning people over, managing some aspects of what was in education, etc. It also kept many horrible diseases at bay. Something I think lots of these maga done grasp is that it was in essence a handout to farmers in the US without being a direct handout.

What did our soft power in Africa get us? Be specific, because China bought the mineral rights.

A doubling of its population in the last thirty years, from approximately 750 million in 1995 to 1.5 billion today.

Giving people medical care without improving their ability to feed themselves while meaningful to the individuals is really just kicking the can down the road and possibly exacerbating the problem as the population keeps growing and their ability to prosper collectively shrinks.
