Yes, it does. Hire someone from Europe. I have Ukrainian lady cleaning my house and she is amazing!

I want a Black leader (should have been Obama) to gather up the leading Black entertainers and athletes & tell them their lifestyles & priorities are setting a horrible example for Black youth. These kids copy their heroes, & if the role models prioritized studying, hard work, & financial responsibility, it could change the country very quickly.

Push the WFH agenda. Less traffic, less wear and tear on roads, better for families and everyone in general- convert the office buildings to housing for homeless or low income or elderly.

I'm really unmotivated and lack self-discipline. I struggle terribly with making myself do things in which I'm not interested, and also with follow-through...on anything and everything. Part of this is rooted in depression and ADHD (which are treated, how well is questionable, but I've been on just about every antidepressant there is). These things have been lifelong issues but in the past year they've gotten much worse; I'm not even working full-time anymore. I used to be ambitious once upon a time. I barely remember what that feels like. I'm also always exhausted and can fall asleep even after drinking large amounts of caffeine.

I've seen psychiatrists, therapists, executive function specialists, primary care physicians. You got another option for me?

You seem to be expecting OTHERS to fix you. Only you can fix you.

Yes! I’m so tired of researching companies, reading reviews, scheduling estimates, etc. I have a laundry list of things I need done around the house, but it requires managing multiple types of contractors.

I need an electrician to fix some outlets and hardwire some light fixtures. My HVAC is incredibly old (have kicked the can 2x with repairs) and likely needs to be replaced soon. I want to have our sewer line scoped. There is some carpentry work (e.g. shelving and such) I’d like to do. I need someone to do a bit of drainage work and put in a walkway in my side yard. My driveway needs repaving. And on and on.

Obviously paying for this stuff isn’t fun, but I have the money. What I don’t have is time to arrange all these things. And if your project is too small there may not be interest or you won’t be prioritized on the schedule.

I wish there was some centralized contracting service that could come to your house and write up an estimate for everything and send out the people you need for each project. It feels like as soon as I knock 1-2 projects off our to do list another few pop up. I’m always looking around at the things that need fixed but I don’t have time to schedule to fix.

I know that there are services that manage home repairs and perform regular basic service for you. https://myhasslefreehome.com/what-we-do/ is a local example. I'd love to be able to just call them and say "hey. I have a small list - paint the front door, install a door knob, fix a light, fix a toilet - and have them come out without a subscription. I know that you can get the same service with a handyman but good luck finding someone!

I left home country as a child and I have no documents aside from a birth certificate and expired passport. I’m an adult now and I also have American citizenship. However, to get citizenship for my children I need my own civil affairs in order: This means getting the equivalent of my country’s social security card, voting registration (it’s mandatory) and valid passport and ID card. And THEN I need to apply for my children and get them passports!

I really really don’t want to deal with all this, but can’t in good conscience let my kids not have citizenship especially since American citizenship is becoming increasingly worthless.

Can you help?

Feel free to emigrate back to your home country. Get that process going and get out, pronto! Wouldn't want to keep you here suffering.

Did you not read the post? I WANT to go! I need my documents in order and get my kids citizenship in my home country too. It’s not easy. But a better life never is 😉

We have a good handyman/contractor that does most of this (not HVAC). But that's because we paid him well for big projects and were patient. Now call him to fix and outlet or whatever I can't do and he comes between bigger jobs and it's always at least $100 per visit (even if it's a small thing). But he'll fix it and come quick when I need him.
I also learned to just fix stuff myself to save $ and only call him when I know I can't (plumbing and bigger electrical or things that require tall ladders). Friends have used him and just compile a list of items that all together will fill a whole day and pay him for the day.

So American to try to find a problem to make money off of fellow citizens, when many of these issues could be solved by a tighter-knit community. But it is difficult because people have to pay the rent, etc., and we don't have that type of society.

It's the vulnerabilities in our society that create these "business opportunities" when what we need are closer-knit families and communities.
