Yup. We just did this too. But it's 8-9 hr drive.

There is less places to eat there!

There are fewer places to eat there!

There was nothing wrong with saying, "There is less places to eat there!"

DP. There are multiple grammatical errors. First of all, "places" is plural so you should be using "are" instead of "is." Second of all, PP is correct that you would use "fewer" instead of "less" in this situation. The correct sentence would read "There are fewer places to eat there."

Less vs. Fewer

Thank you this, this is so droll... from Virginia Beach to the South of France, natural progression!

The south of France is so overdone. It’s basically on par with Iceland, Portugal, and Costa Rica: overrun with American tourists.

The best beaches are in off the beaten path destinations in Africa, but only real travelers can find them. Hint: you need to get past the pirates and Jumanji barriers, but it’s worth it. My kids only enjoy vacations when there’s an element of danger involved. That’s what makes them stand out from the crowd when it comes to college applications.

I mean I agree with you, but where do you eat?

You hunt your own bison nuggets on a safari, obviously!

Agree but for someone like OP the drive may be worth it. It is a great destination if you want some beach but also want other options.
