JD Vance’s holiday brings ‘circus’ of road closures and police patrols to sleepy Cotswolds village
Residents in the vicinity of the 6-acre site have described road blocks coming into place as the US vice president spends time in their village

Nobody likes him. He is unwelcome everywhere.

Why? What did he ever do to you personally ? Or even: anyone you know??

He’s our Vice President. He lies to defend Trump. He slanders the Haitian immigrant community in Springfield, Ohio. He calls single, child free women cat ladies. He does Peter Theil’s bidding. He made his name off of his autobiography that exaggerated some aspects of his childhood poverty, but supports policies that hurt the poor and vulnerable. He benefited from government assistance as a child, served in the military, was a US Senator and was running for VP, yet was critical of Biden and Harris for being on the government payroll. He’s very socially awkward for a high level politician and isn’t good at making small talk with voters. He doesn’t relate to people. There’s really nothing likable about him.

Nope and he's a two face liar. He called trump the next hitler and then ran with him. If that is not selling your soul I don't know what is.

And he said regarding January 6 "If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn't be pardoned." Then when asked about that after the pardons he accused the interviewer of omitting what he said next, which was "there are gray areas." What gray areas? He pardoned every. single. insurrectionist.

This. they change their own script daily to fit whatever lie they are pushing.

I want to know who is paying for that house in England? I get we pay for security but we should not be paying for that house.

He had an 18 car entourage. That’s beaucoup bucks in the Cotswolds. Besides being ridiculously over the top!

The Cotswolds are overrated. Maine is prettier and more genuine.

It used to be American politicians didn’t take showy expensive vacations, especially overseas. I guess Buy American doesn’t work in the era of gold toilets.

Agree but domestic vacations are not impressive to their Yale friends.

Usha had a Bill Gates scholarship to study in Cambridge. This is definitely an Usha vacation.

Well, don’t worry. I’m pretty sure Maine is already on the Vances’ upcoming itinerary. It’s only mid-August.

10k/week for a family of 4 is hardly showy. Come on.

Ok daddy warbucks--there's a good chunk of the country for whom a camping vacation in a state park is their summer holiday.

Well, a restaurant had to turn away Vance and his entourage because the staff refused to serve them.

Some people have some guts, I guess.

They don't want their other restaurant guests to lose their appetites.

$10k/week in Europe ALL-In -- including airfare, food, etc. -- that's perhaps not "showy," albeit quuite nice. $10,000 for a house rental alone -- that's fancy. I just looked at vrbo at houses in Europe, and $10k/week gets you a pretty special property.

We're on DCUM, where anonymous posters pretend they all have $600,000 year salaries, without recognizing that the average household annual income in the USA is $77,000. So yeah, 10K a week for a vacation is pretty significant to most Americans.
