This is an interesting angle: "universities also mislead applicants by presenting early decision offers as legally binding".

I don't think schools ever represent it "as legally binding", but merely "a binding decision."

Maybe next they will make it legally binding. Every ED student should sign a contract.

Oh Great. Let’s get rid of ED so all the kids apply to even more colleges RD. So everyone competes with even more applications. That should definitely make the college admissions process less random and less stressful.
