Do some of you parents with older teens truly believe they’re not on TikTok?

so they are on tik tok.

DP. Nope. My 16yo isn't on TikTok. Doesn't like it, doesn't look at it. Also not on Instagram. When they want to look at videos, they're on YouTube. As are most of their friends.

You do realize YouTube is also a video sharing platform where content creators are targeting their audience to earn $, right? And yes, your teen's friends are on Tik Tok as well

that poster likely doesn't know the difference between youtube and tiktok. jus like they don't seem to understand you can be on tiktok and not be a content creator.

My kid isn't on TikTok but all of that content ends up on YT anyway so she sees it there.

Why is it such a BFD? Who cares if they're on TikTok? Why worry about this one platform when there's also YouTube, Instagram, etc.?

They think it’s cringy. They’re pretty anti-social media.

They sound really weird.

Watching TikTok isn't the same as uploading videos.

Being "on" Tiktok means creating content

Social media is for entertaining the low class.

DP. It takes a higher level of thinking than you’re capable of to see social media for the cesspool that it is. You just don’t get it—or them—so it’s ok if you think they’re weird.

Your kids are on tik tok. They watch it. They tell you what you want to hear because they know you are rigid and narrow minded

Most likely they are lying to mom. Or they don't have friends so they say they aren't interested in these things as a coping mechanism

If you can’t possibly fathom the existence of young people who just aren’t into it, you are actually the rigid and narrow minded one. Teens are not a monolith.

I told my DD a few days after her 16th birthday that if she wanted to have social media accounts, she was free to do so, and she said nah, I’m good.

TikTok algorithm has been engineered by the Chinese Communist Party to addict people and induce psychological stressors. YouTube is bad, but it’s just addiction not psyops — also the algorithm TikTok is extremely sophisticated far beyond competitors.

We get it, some of you are realizing you did your kids dirty by letting them loose on social media way too early and you’ve watched them become moronic little lemmings. Can’t undo that and now you’re just lashing out.
