Well no one is stopping you from volunteering so you obviously don’t care much about the mission.
I work a non profit and vast majority of employees gives a rats ass about mission when they leave. Face it you were there to get paid |
Can you volunteer to work as a fed? Does the volunteer get a background check to be able to work with sensitive information? |
Feds can't volunteer at work. You can be nasty but at least educate yourself before posting |
Yes they can. You can pick up trash, be a park guide, fill pot holes, round up illegals etc. or just work $1 dollar a year |
What a f'king idiot. |
| I’m still fed and my agency has gone through its RIF and reorganization already. But every week since - I’ve gotten a farewell note or a goodbye hug- about one maybe two a week. People are aligning with their morals or perhaps some better position and I feel left behind. I’m here for the check only because gone are the days am I spending my weekends trying to help someone in the public - who truly did care about - navigate a federal regulation. The American public can eat sh8t- I’m so angry they voted for this. I do the bare minimum and not a minute more. I really miss my star colleagues but the fuel is gone. |
I feel left behind, too. And also share in not doing a second over my eight hours. Earlier this week, I was on a call regarding the FY26 budget with a few colleagues. As it inched toward my eighth hour, I politely let them know I would be hopping off the call shortly to head home. I asked them to continue and update me the following day. In the past, I would've stayed until the meeting ended, but those days are gone. |
| I left after 19 years and wish that I had done so 10 years ago. The healthcare insurance is better, as is the pay and the work life balance. I was sold a false bill of goods. My whole career had been with the federal government so I didn’t know any better. Was very intimidated by the private sector. I should’ve known better. hang in there my former colleagues and don’t be afraid to jump ship sadly, no one cares whether you stay or go. Life goes on in the federal government as it does at any other private sector company. |
Np- no feds cannot just volunteer. In fact, this is why we no longer get interns in my office. Some agencies like National Park Service do have robust volunteer programs, but most others don't let you volunteer your time. |
This is great advice. All of you feds should find private sector jobs. Enjoy the endless regularly scheduled RIF’s when your company doesn’t hit its numbers for a quarter! |
Please having been at both private sector is much better than current state of fed government. |
Yeah, I'll just hang out at home formulating policy to benefit my fellow citizens and implement it by .... OK, gotta get back to you on that part |
| 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 |
