I didn't drink in college and still don't. I just don't like it, but no judgement at all for those who do.
I don't think drinking should matter to their choice of school. Alcohol exists in the real world and you just have to learn to deal with it in whatever environment you're in. It's not that big a deal. Go to parties. Have fun. Hold a cup. Leave before it gets too sloppy. No big deal. At any school that's not tiny, your child will find their people. All of my friends drank in college but it wasn't their entire personality or social life. |

Oh, my bad. I must be overreacting to the outlawing of so-called DEI initiatives, programs and scholarship at institutions across the country. That seems more like enforced orthodoxy to me than the kid giving the college tour who introduces themselves with pronouns. But yes, your kid should feel butthurt if the ladies don’t want to hear about the Fountainhead. Mind you, the primary question of this thread is a question about inclusion- the I in DEI. You can’t even see that hypocrisy. |
Let me guess, you live in the DMV bubble. Haven't you read any polls? Gen Z is extremely anti-woke. |
I live in nyc. what can "anti-woke" possibly mean in real terms that impact people. I know some people really hate those half a dozen athletes so much they've made it their whole personality.. But beyond that? We really taking away gay marriage? Because that's actually extremely anti-woke. It's not pronouns people. |
How about we help this way - what are the top 5 party schools in the top 20 and what are the top 5 activist schools?
I'll start - Dartmouth and Vanderbilt are on the first list, maybe Notre Dame. Columbia and Brown on the second list - possibly Yale and Harvard. UCLA might be on both (if you truly consider it top 20). I don't see Cal Tech, or UChicago on either list. Same with MIT, which has a reputation for great parties but isn't a party school. JHU isn't on either. Anyone else care to help? |

+2 I never understand people who make such a big deal out of this. Drink or don’t drink, no one cares. |
Most smart and ambitious kids aren’t drinking much these days. They know it’s terrible for their health and fitness, bad for their skin, and terrible for sleep and study. He can find non drinkers anywhere. |
Good grief, people. Being “anti-woke” simply means stop the in your face virtue signaling of the past years and treat everyone kindly and equally. That’s it. You don’t need to lecture or scold - just treat everyone the way you would want to be treated - with respect.
Those of you incensed that no one is interested in your soapbox anymore need to back off. No one deserves special treatment based on the color of their skin or their gender identity. Just be you, quit talking about it, and move on. |
For every athlete (of the 6 you cite), it affects a hundred women athletes. |
I thought Williams didn’t have as much of a drinking culture these days?
What about Hamilton? |

Funny who ended up being the snowflakes in the end. |
In 4 years a post on what companies are good for a non drinking person. |
