4. Is it really believable that Trump was unaware of the antisemitic context surround shylock? No, I don't think so. Its obscurity and its ickiness strike me as comparable, so if you know the word, you probably know it's bad.

5. Would this be national news if, say, Hillary Clinton or Cory Booker said it? Cant imagine. Then again, it's easier to imagine trump affirmatively wanting to do a dog whistle, so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

6. On balance, I think this is just one more data point for why trump is a bad guy, but it's not crazy to think the people in this thread vowing to continue to "fight" or condemning the press as some how complicit are maybe doing a bit much.

If only trump's bankers had demanded their pound of flesh for every defaulted loan!

Even if/when he apologizes, this crowd isn't going to let it go, the way they did with Biden.

They never do because it isn't even about the apology, but rather the sense of POWER a person feels when another person is forced to apologize. Oftentimes, the people demanding an apology have no right to be offended (i.e., they're offended for other people). Even if they do have a right to be offended, they don't have the right to demand an apology for everyone who does. People are individuals, not a group.

As a Jewish person, I wasn't offended. If you're not Jewish, you have no right to be offended on my behalf. Also, the ADL doesn't speak for me, nor do others on this board might be Jewish.
