What’s the sports related thing he has ?

Speed and agility training.

That sounds like fun, I want to join!

That’s a very narrow way of thinking.

15 is a little old for the pool, except to go there to meet boys or girls. Also, I would argue that summers are meant for the lake, the beach, or the ocean, not a crowded suburban pool.

Meet boys or girls? Too old for the pool? You do know they have swim team for kids up to 18? Kids go to the pool to workout or hang out with friends. Some kids go daily. You are never too old for the pool. Most people don’t spend an entire summer at a lake, beach or ocean. The pool in the summer is a staple around here.

I spend a lot of time at my pool. The teens wander around and scope each other out. They hang out with friends. Outside of swim team, no they are not "working out". They play any games available at the pool and stand around in the water if they go in the water at all. Why is this a bad thing? Of course 15+ year olds want to check out their gender of interest.

My main reason I don't want my kids going to the pool every day is they are way too fair and would end up burnt to an actual crisp. No thanks.

It’s definitely a neighborhood pool. No one moving here is getting in unless a membership comes with the house. Ours didn’t. https://chsrc.com/membership-information-6/

Ok but how does one not understand what it means when posters are saying their teens go to “the pool”? They literally needed clarification on “the pool.” Common sense people.

What’s so odd to ask why every single person wrote “the pool”. Going to pools in our area is popular with little kids and occasionally with teens but not so much after 14 or so. And pools include backyard pools, country club pools, sports club pools, town pools and lakes.

Plus after seeing so many people who shamelessly talked about peeing in pools, their kids peeing in pools with “everybody does it” attitudes just trying to see where these people swim.

Mine probably fapped once or twice to that stepmother corn he likes and has been gaming since he woke up at noon. He came down for some Red Bull and a brownie. He will probably beg for a Chipotle bowl later when he has the munchies.

Far as I can tell that’s sort of par for the course for the kids these days

Also a few people said generic training for sport at night. Is that something you sign up for or school related?

My kids have never gone to tradition camps. They go to specialty camps. My daughter is going to summer dance that you have to audition for. This year it’s in LA and then NYC. My youngest goes to a basketball program that’s six weeks.

Any spare time on a day like today my daughter would want to sleep over a friend’s and my son will play video games.

Do your kids not go to the pool? Most families in neighborhoods join an outdoor pool for the summer. They are in or near neighborhoods. They are not called “town pools.”

NP and come on, you must know not everyone has access to or even likes hanging out at a pool. My 15 yo will go again today and this is what she did yesterday too. They will be there for a while and get food at the snack bar. It’s very social. It’s a private pool we were on a wait list to even join but technically it’s the neighborhood pool.

My other kid never liked the pool and has never gone. He’s 17 and he will sleep half the day, maybe do some of his summer class, maybe not, and will probably meet up with friends later to get something to eat. He’s not working today. I know this isn’t about older kids but I’m giving an example of what kids do that don’t go to pools.

A family that has a child doing ballet year round on a daily basis except Sundays ($$$$$) definitely has access to a pool. They said they went when kids were younger even. So someone is obviously playing dumb.

That was me. I did my duty having the children learn how to swim. They had swimming lessons at the Y in the winter. We obviously have been to pools but it’s not something they enjoyed. Usually when someone uses “the” it’s a common knowledge type thing. If your teen says I’m going to “the mall” you know which one. But only you know. That’s why it stood out when every post wrote “the pool”.

Teen went to the pool with friends which will be followed by a sleepover.

No sports; no camps; no online school and no volunteering. She's productive all year long and while she would have no problem with doing camps or sports training, she's very happy to have the down time.

Parents--encourage your kids to take down time even if they don't want it.

Woke up late. Went to the park, took the dog hiking and had a picnic with his siblings (12 and 14). Finished up packing for boyscout camp. Watched Rear Window (he’s on a Hitchcock kick).

Yes?
Mine went to the gym. She had plans with 2 friends to go to the pool but it’s not very warm/overcast here and one of them realized they were going to the beach that night (kids this age are bad planners) so plans fell apart. She sometimes has days she doesn’t do anything specific, some days she is busy all day.
Next week she babysits every day 8-12 and it’s in the neighborhood with the pool and near her best friend so she will probably stay out after for most of those days

Exploring Gibraltar with his family, then a walk along the golden mile and possibly a trip to the pool or beach in the later afternoon.

I used to also be confused by “the pool.” I think it must be a popular cultural activity in MD and VA. I never heard of it being used the same way in DC. NW DC doesn’t have neighborhood pools.

The teens we know are doing internships.

As you can see by the previous posts, many teens go to “the pool” in the summer. They are not too old.
