When my kid was in high school they volunteered at Inova hospital one summer and went back during the spring. It was more for the hours to try to get into a bsmd program.
There weren’t a lot of options at 16/17. The goal was 400+ hours. Unfortunately there was very little patient interaction. First session they worked at the gift shop then got opportunity to help with patient discharge (take them via wheelchair). Wasn’t much but got to see how a hospital runs a little. If 18 seriously look at medical assistant certs, EMTs, becoming a scribe, working at a doctors office… |
