I teach in a Title 1 school and many parents don't answer calls from school. The sick kid is returned to the classroom until dismissal. It happens nearly every week in my grade level. |
| The traffic is brutal!!! I hear you OP! |
+1 |
Seriously. I chose an occupation where I need to be in-person. I love my job even though it was a bit crazy during covid. The traffic was lovely. I do not want to suffer. I do not want anyone to suffer. Get off the roads and WFH if you can. I beg you. |
Thank you! Its awful now. |
| get a different job if you don't like it. |

RTO has been a disaster for us, productivity is down because people were using those extra non commuting hours to work extra. Now most are just doing the standard 8 hours and not one minute more.
On the plus side, I no longer feel guilty of i don't finish up my work by the end of the day, quitting time is quitting time and now I have a clear demarcation of hours that are my time. No more working unpaid overtime, no more working on weekends here and there. I'm also using sick leave more because I don't want to go into the office sick, and I have an invisible autoimmune disorder which makes it easier for me to catch viruses, with everyone else coming into work half sick. It is what it is. Of course I am looking for a remote position on my lunch break, so time to get back to the search! |
Clearly, that's not ok. Not sure what point you're making? |
| Have faith and look around! I left 5 days RTO for almost double my pay with one to two days in office but pretty optional and flexible on that too. 5 days sitting in an empty room on Zoom in an office with no people I collaborated with felt so pointless and was really ruining my life with the commute, especially since it meant rolling back online to work all evening. The weird coffee badging also sucked. There is better out there! |
Get an RA! Seriously. Even if you are in government. I can’t believe how people sacrifice their health for their jobs. I have an RA and I am still remote. |
NP and not all agencies are processing them or honoring existing RAs. |
Your school needs to keep them isolated. Not ok you do that and make the rest of us sick. |
My spouse applied for one and was denied. Lucky you. |
Same as my spouses job. They are no longer willing to take early morning calls, late calls and weekend calls. 8 hours in the office and that's it. People in other countries and West Coast need to work within the schedule. |
The PP wrote that no school is okay with this. We don't have a choice. |
