What are the destinations/towns you travel to year in and year out?

I'm a teacher. In summer I do two weeks in Colorado to visit my family, one 7-10 day family vacation. We also do a couple of long weekends. throughout the year. I've made it a priority to take all of my personal time (3 days) each year. My spouse gets 3 weeks vacation each year so he does not accompany me to Colorado most years and does a long weekend there.

They have jobs where no one cares as long as you handle S.

I could travel 52 weeks out of the year. Jus need to be able check email every 24-36 hour, answer a few texts, be able to call people back in reasonable time in case something urgent comes up, spend 45-2 hours of actual screen time.

what’s your job? i am going to encourage my kids to look into your field (not kidding)

i am a law firm partner and spouse is cfo of a public company. we don’t have the time or budget to travel like some of these posters.

All the law firm partners I know at top firms do this.

do what? work like PP said? then somehow you only know huge rainmakers, because most law firm partners work a heck of a lot more than that. if you mean most you know travel to 4-5 international or high end travel per year, that is obviously possible but my spouse and I are both “big law” partners and we don’t travel like that nor do most of our colleagues.

Do you drive to Niagra Falls? How do you break up the trip? How many nights total?

We leave around 8am, stop for lunch and get there by dinner. We usually only stay a night or two and head to a different destination which in the past has included Toronto, Pittsburgh, Chicago. We like it enough to drive out of the way for it.

Where do you stay? Everyplace looks sort of dumpy, even the bigger name places.

We own in Nantucket and Montana and try to visit London (pre-Christmas) and St. Barts (late Jan, early Feb) so those 4 nearly annually. Starting to get sick of here though so might move out to a farm south and west of here!

My personality is such that I would never visit the same destination year in and year out.

I am a curious person who associates travel with exploration and discovery.

It’s sort of a dumpy place. I don’t mind it. Our friends stayed at one of the fallsview places and said it was fine. We stayed at a Hampton inn maybe 15 minutes away and it was decent.

People aren’t saying this is all they do. Just the places they return to.

While I go to England frequently because I now have family there, each trip includes something new. So same country but different experiences. Some people have also noted second homes. We spend 3-4 months at our second home but are working remotely so it’s not taking away from other trips.

If you say so. All of the big partners at our firms travel all summer. And multiple times throughout the year. Don’t know what to tell you.

Vancouver area, one of the islands, Whistler

Utah, Arizona

A small beach town in South America that nobody here has heard of

This is great! Thanks for the update. I think the only add-on we will do is visit family in upstate NY but it seems like it's worth it as a destination for us.

My experience has been that partners travel a ton but also work through their vacations. If they want to remote work from Deer Valley, ok. Some will do the intensive, in-the-mountains-and-cannot-be-reached once a year.

Yes, exactly. The point I’m responding to is that they travel.

Same except Aspen/Snowmass

We still do all of the above and my children are adults and most are married.

What is Crested Butte like and what do you do for activities? Keep hearing about people loving it. We just came back from Vail - beautiful state.
