Nothing brings me greater joy than denying a T15 grad for a job.

Not a flex. If you can't evaluate people beyond the school on their resume to determine which ones will fit at your company, you shouldn't be in the position to make offers.

Why?

Know a scientist who said they prefer graduate students from lesser known universities over T10 because they are less entitled and more hungry. The ones from T10 don't want to do any of the grunt work because they feel they are too good for it.

You know a scientist? I AM a scientist, as is my husband, and many in our circle. The first criteria is publications (for research), and past job experience. Beyond that there are great programs in famous and less famous institutions, so then it depends on specialty and who they worked with before. But NO ONE is turning away anyone just because of where they graduated, for God's sake!

What a stupid thing to say.

Another scientist here. 100% such idiots on this thread.

Wow. Why do I think the T-15 is the lucky one.

It’s funny. The Ivies have the least glamorous housing-,grim and the food leaves much to be desired. And then there are the non-Ivy kids floating down the lazy river and in their fancy AC dorms drinking like fish and on social media showing off thousand dollar sorority rush outfits. And who exactly are the spoiled students? lol not any I see walking around my kid’s campus.

Many of them are likely DEI acceptances.

Highly predictable. You got it in under 10 posts. On a different thread, someone managed to bring up DEI in under 6 posts.

It should have been in the second post.
