I've known a lot of Sarah's and if I could resurrect any friendships from my past it would be two Sarah's. They were so fun to be around, funny, down to earth and honest. I wonder if you're one of these Sarah's! |
| Can we talk about Stephanie? An 80s name for a now 40 year old still stuck in the 80s emotionally. |
Spouse is an economist, so yes, they absolutely do understand stats- and you are assuming a lot with regard to gender, which, of course, speaks to spouse's assertion about IQ. Thanks for proving my point, though! PS- The book entitled Bell Curve wasn't correct at all. It's one of the books allowed to stay at the Naval Academy after the "woke" book purge. The nation will now become even dumber. |

Isn’t Jon diminutive of Jonathan, whereas John is it’s own name.
I’m sure it the land of phonetic spellings we’ve entered there are exceptions. But I don’t know I’ve ever know a given name Jon. |
| Also I know four Denise’s, two white, two black, one a elser millenial, one a mid Xer and two late boomers. All are very smart, practical people. All are brunette. |
The IQ distribution is a Gaussian or normal distribution or very very close. It's centered around 100. So, "MOST" definitely do not have a lower than average IQ unless you are going to define most as a pure majority and even then I suspect the curve is skewed toward higher intelligence due to selection pressure. |
| Lol |
You see what's happening right now in our country, right? The curve is definitely not skewed toward higher intelligence. In fact, the average IQ in the US is 98, considerably lower than a lot of countries who are frankly doing a lot better than we are. Frankly, there needs to be new norming after this political debacle, because we are not looking so good. And we can start with this thread! I mean, it's anecdotal, but this is a great example. |
I know a Stephanie and she is definitely emotionally stunted. |
Are those countries voting in the US? |
LOL. That’s what I came here to post. That’s the only way I hear the name in my head now! |
People are dumber than ever before. |
| I saw a therapist named Denise for many years. I can honestly say she saved my life and made the lives of my children better than they would have been without me knowing her. |
It would appear so. |
Actually a 60s name. I know 2 and one is a bossy know it all who acts high brow when she isn’t. It’s embarrassing to see. The other is a hillbilly type with a low IQ. |
