Is this how Trump was elected? I mean, are people really this stupid?
Yes, people really are this stupid. Half the population has IQ below 100. Think about what IQ 100 represents, and how all intellectual barriers to online forum access have been eliminated by modern tech.
In the weeks leading up to the election, I was stunned at the incoming predictive polls- my question being how was there even a critical mass of people who would even consider voting him in? My spouse repeated that above statement each time- not half, but MOST people have a lower than average IQ, so it shouldn't shock anyone. And so, here we are. This post, and everyone else here, who is attributing personality characteristics to common names is really a pretty good example of the general population's level of intellect. This does not bode well for future mankind.
I don't think your husband understands statistics.
Spouse is an economist, so yes, they absolutely do understand stats- and you are assuming a lot with regard to gender, which, of course, speaks to spouse's assertion about IQ. Thanks for proving my point, though! PS- The book entitled Bell Curve wasn't correct at all. It's one of the books allowed to stay at the Naval Academy after the "woke" book purge. The nation will now become even dumber.
The IQ distribution is a Gaussian or normal distribution or very very close. It's centered around 100. So, "MOST" definitely do not have a lower than average IQ unless you are going to define most as a pure majority and even then I suspect the curve is skewed toward higher intelligence due to selection pressure.
You see what's happening right now in our country, right? The curve is definitely not skewed toward higher intelligence. In fact, the average IQ in the US is 98, considerably lower than a lot of countries who are frankly doing a lot better than we are. Frankly, there needs to be new norming after this political debacle, because we are not looking so good. And we can start with this thread! I mean, it's anecdotal, but this is a great example.
People are dumber than ever before.
