The good thing is, I'm not responsible for the welfare of the whole country. I did my part—by not voting for this morally bankrupt atrocity. However, I will never forget the anticipatory excitement of those who couldn't wait to see as their orange man unleashed his cruelty unto those they've deemed their 'enemies'. Two good things have emerged for them: 1. He's indeed unleashing his cruelty unto others. 2. If things go at the rate they're going, many of them will work till their graves to make up for their rapidly deteriorating financial picture. In the end, I am sure, it will be a price worth paying for them. |
Again, even in boom times ( whatever they may be or however we describe them) there are vast swaths of the population that is disconnected or, I should say, that is tok far removed from the intricacies of the stock market to feel a net difference in their day-to-day lives if said stock market crashes. Having your hours cut at work, losing your job, battling car repossession, eviction, rising prices or any other hardships that most people go through in this country everyday doesn't make a stock market crash look like a life-altering event for most people because it simply isn't. |
They will take notice when they go from struggle to being on the street with no roof, no food. It's one thing to struggle, it's another to have no option and be homeless and without food, there is a huge difference and the less educated are determined to find out. |
DP. A stock’s price reflects the value of a company. When stock prices go down it’s the investors saying they don’t think the company has a rosy future. Ergo, as a stock price goes down, the chance of job losses (both at the company itself, as well as the surrounding small businesses such as lunch places, retail, etc) goes up. A crashing stock market is not good for anyone. |
PP No one is saying a stock market crash is inherently a good thing. But, you seem to overestimate the direct impact that stock market activities have on the lives of everyday Americans. By some estimates, less than 1% of companies with over $100M in revenues are listed on the stock market, meaning the vast majority of Americans do not get their paychecks from publicly traded companies. Furthermore, businesses don't need a stock market crash to crash themselves. They do that on their own everyday in this country. |
Find out ? Drive into a Walmart parking lot in the outer burbs and see the number of people living in their cars. Homelessness is at all time high, food banks are swarmed with demand , $5 trillion in credit card debt, car repos are reaching new record and you think they need a stock market crash to feel some hardship. By any means, don't come out of that nice, quaint bubble you've sequestered yourself in. |
This. Poor people's lives get destroyed when they are unable to make a living (they have to work or a living and live hand to mouth) or the entitlements allowing them to afford basic life (because either their sh** jobs don't pay enough) or they cannot work FT or are elderly/disabled are unavailable. They don't hold stock, they likely don't even own a home, they don't have millions in their 401Ks banking on taking luxury vacation lifestyle and supporting adults kids in retirement and having a personal nurse, their retirement is SS and Medicare and whatever facilities are free of charge. The irony is that it's rich and also UMC and a small percent of MC who are affected by this. Trump screwing poor and working class less was not on my bingo card for 2025 ![]() |
Zionist billionaires are funding Trump and love him because he's supporting genocide and ethnic cleansing |
Shit jobs is offensive. Just a heads up. I’d like to see how rich people have time to make all that money if they were cutting their own grass, building their own houses, cooking their own food and raising their own kids. |
You should read it as "sh** paying" jobs. That's what is meant here. We rely on low wage paid people as society, this much is clear. |
I don’t have any problem with intelligent, law-abiding billionaires, but any billionaires who thought backing Trump for president would be good for them are just so stupid. They had all that money and couldn’t buy a clue. Pitiful. |
Just don’t wonder why working class people are turning away from the party. |
I think you need to educate yourself on the impact of tariffs. It’s not just the stock market. |
I feel like billionaires and hedge fund dudes just went through a little of what Fed workers have been dealing with for the past 2 months … |
NP it's working so well for them on the other side. |
