Gen Z skills

Gen Z are skilless, uninformed, lower intelligent, and arrogant.

They can't do anything. They've used apps their entire lives, so they're not even all that great with technology. They never have to learn anything in depth, because they've cheated their entire lives through school and college by using websites to do all of their math problems and use AI to do their homework. Their memorization abilities are trash. They're often very, very low information individuals, because they get the entirely of their news and information from social media. I bet there's a huge fraction of Gen Z who hasn't read a single book in over year, nor even a single full article from a news outlet like the NYT is multiple years. They just don't have the attention span for kt. Their attention spans are horrid because their brains have been trained on 5 second videos from TikTok since birth. They also use tons of weed and other meds that are ruining their brain development.

Humanity, as a whole, is now getting dumber with each generation, because no one has to learn anything anymore. And all they do is smoke weed or consume CBD gummies into drug induced psychosis.

I haven’t noticed poor eye contact or attention span. No more so than other generations.

I have noticed worse grammar and storytelling, though there are one or two exceptions whom I would rate even better than myself!

I do tend to get the cream of the crop though.

My problem with most under 40 is they have not developed for most part any real VP/C level skills.

A large part is world shut down five years ago and places like Fannie which used to be great place to develop career has frozen that.

Part time once a great place to develop skills over last 10-15 years companies stopped supporting then or encouraging them. And a lot have gone online which is fairly useless.

In person training and career development replaced by no training unless mandatory and on line.

Email, texting, zoom has eroded in person skills.

A lot. It there fault

You need to take old-fashioned grade school and high school grammar, punctuation and composition classes, whether in person or online.

Schools gave up on teaching those subjects to Gen Z students because the No Child Left Behind rubrics devalued grammar and punctuation.

All of us mistakes when we write, especially when we’re writing on DCUM on a phone, but older college-educated people expect other college-educated people to have a good grasp of grammar and punctuation.

If they’re kind, they’ll do their best to tell themselves that it’s not Gen Z people’s fault that you can’t write. If they’re polite, they’ll avoid confronting you about that. If they’re sophisticated, they’ll know that rules change and that how to apply some rules is a matter of taste.

But they’re horrified by your writing.

Relying on AI grammar checkers won’t help. The checkers aren’t very good. The checkers can help users with strong skills detect errors, but only if the users know enough to separate the actual errors from the false positives.

This means that the only practical way for you to deal with this problem is to take a class.

In theory, you could make do with an app or a free online textbook. The challenge is that, because the only subject most people now care about is math, finding online resources for grammar and punctuation is difficult. One place to start might be to call Georgetown’s writing center and ask what the tutors there recommend for students who need help with writing basics.

You can benefit from reading, improving technical skills and sharpening communication skills.
