Is DOGE making it easier for Feds to get things done?

Well. There are two overpaid people in my division who lay their work on others and have for years. Both are over 60 and can easily retire. But these two are collecting and increasing their pensions whenever that day comes. While making others miserable. Doge hasn’t gotten rid of them yet. ( Financial Regulator).

Some yes, but mostly no. Some of the most obstinate people are finally getting with the program, but it's not enough to balance out the uncertainty and actual harm so far

I work in a lab at the NIH and the inability to purchase supplies has crippled my work. The $1 purchase cards were difficult to work through and I was only able to justify and place one order during that time.
Our purchasing department was RIF'd earlier this week so even if I can get the approvals, who will place the order?
There is a lot more bureaucracy all around. I am working at about 60% capacity.

+1 I run a lab at NIH, and we are being severely limited by our inability to purchase. We went from 200+ purchase cards as an Institute down to 6. For the entire Institute. And now they have fired all of our purchasing officers, so the problem will get worse.

We're not talking about purchasing pencils and pens here. These are vital supplies to do our experiments and take care of patients on clinical trials. These operations will grind to a halt VERY quickly if something isn't done soon.

No, not at all. DOGE is making it utterly impossible to do the job. Seriously.

Is DOGE helping anyone?

JFC, no. The horror stories from my former agency are terrible.

Don’t forget the $1 travel cards! I work in a GC office and we were recently held in contempt of court because our attorneys representing the government in a case were not allowed to travel and appear before the judge. So now the government will likely lose the case and we will owe a lot more $ than the cost of those two plane tickets. Thanks DOGE!

Tax cuts and shorting the market.

No, quite the opposite, many federal functions are ceasing to exist at all. That makes it the wild west for businesses and those who wish to do harm to consumers etc.

lol! Oh wow. No. DOGE is making it infinitely harder to get things done.

Very rare for unanimous agreement on DCUM.

No, they are cutting the productive people, not the problem children.

To have a good outcome, DOGE should have used a scalpel not a chain saw.

Quality STEM people are leaving, because they easily can get a job way outside the governmental sector (think FAANG).

The non-productive STEM people are staying in government because they know they would not last 6 months outside the governmental sector.

The long term impact of this will be increased waste.

Nope. Clinical trials that were 3/4 complete, someone at DOGE has decided was non-essential. We’ll save a few hundreds of thousands on a 5 year research project in which we had invested tens of millions and have zero results to show for it. Sorry to the Americans who had that disease. No cure coming your way anytime soon.

China is poaching our fired American scientists and offering them that they can work from home in the DC area as long as the fruits of the research go to them.
