The point is that Latin is just not that good. Here are some stats on Latin 2nd St:

-25% never take an AP exam
-43% never pass a single AP exam
-42% are not proficient in reading
-11% do not graduate

Wow, those numbers are not good, esp the 43% not passing a single AP exam.

Getting a 3 is not hard, especially with the low risk population at Latin.

That would be a red flag to me.

Don’t do it. Latin is racist and xenophobic, and so many entitled brats! I graduated two years ago. I didn’t realize how a weird place it was until I got to college and talked about my experiences with friends. It was mistake to go there. Be careful.

This is an interesting comment. We are also considering Latin and I’ve spoken to many real black families (we are also black) and no one has spoken about the school in this way.

I’ve never heard this said about Latin either. I have heard it said about many of the other very popular charters on this site.

Maybe that is someone with a high waitlist number, but low enough that if they scare off other applicants they will have a chance.

My daughter loves Latin and if you are a math kid, you can take honors. The teachers are amazing. They care and are very dedicated.

Please seek out real families to talk with. Also a 2nd Street family (which we are) will have very little insight about the Cooper campus and vise versa because the two campuses are largely run separately.
