If you think Christianity is a fairy tale, then where did the Bible come from?

So the idea that someone or a small group of people started to write down historical events and beliefs, that were built on by others over hundreds of years so that they can command power over them, doesn’t seem that far fetched.

Mao and Pol Pot had guns to do the talking. People did not worship them willingly.

Wow, please open a history book (non fiction!) once in a while. You think jesus floated down and everyone just started worshipping??

If you are a nonbeliever, I respect you. But how do you answer this?

Would love to hear your answer of the opposite. Where did this book come from and who agreed that it was true and told people to believe it?

We all don't believe in a lot of gods, and a lot of religions. Atheists just don't believe in one more than you, OP.

Atheists AND you don't believe in the Hindu gods, or shamanism, or pagan gods, or the old Egyptian gods, or the old Roman or Greek gods, and on and on.

I've yet to hear you answer what you think happened with those religions -- do you think
a bunch of bored people just wrote the texts and convinced people to believe it?

How do you answer this?

I'd guess that OP either has no answer, or has long since abandoned this thread, realizing how dumb their initial question was.

Does OP not have Google? There are entire fields of study dedicated to how and where and why the bible came about. Why do some people think that all the answers are just floating around somewhere in their ignorant brain? Do some research OP. Don't be so ignorant.

Don't speak for "all of us" as I don't wonder sh*t about any of them. They are most definitely not great pieces of literature with inconsistent story lines, characters, and narratives, nor are they divine revelations.

They're amalgamations of bronze age stories created by people with little to basic understanding of the natural world. They shouldn't be treated with reverence or anything more than the fables that they are.
