My DD played up. She was always welcomed by the players that made the team because she was better than the weaker player she replaced. So don’t worry about how the HS parent feel.

Really? There was an 8th grade on JV with one if my kids and that child was ostracized. No one wanted an 8th grader on the team.

My kid started working out with the varsity basketball team as an 8th grader and played summer league with them. The kids and parents were incredibly supportive.
