Any other parents have there kids wear diapers or pull-ups at night at older ages ?

My 10yo DS still wears them and is wet most nights, even when he wakes up to go in the middle of the night. Pediatrician says that's normal for some kids.

DD wore them until 8, DS wore them until 9.5. Both have sleep apnea which probably contributed. Both are healthy and functioning just fine without accidents at age 13 and 11.

So crazy how people have normalized bedwetting until middle school. I’m not hopeful for the next generation!

It's always been a common thing, It used to be stigmatized so no one talked about it.

Most kids need between 8-10 hours of sleep each night. That is a long time to stay in a wet garment. How do you prevent rashes?

My daughter is almost 9 and still wets the bed. She wont wear pull ups because she finds them uncomfortable for some reason. We tried them all but we werent able to find one she didnt have a problem wearing. She would rather wear one to bed than wake up wet every morning but says she cant sleep in them.

What do you do when kid has a lazy pee and chooses to go in the pull-up instead of getting up to use the bathroom? I know most of the time he is asleep when it happens and he really does need the pull-ups but he still has times after he wakes up that he pees again.

A lot of kids who wear bedtime underwear will occasionally choose to just let themselves go when they are awake and very tired or feeling comfortable. Unless they are having leaks or it’s causing a problem I just ignore it. I know this is controversial for some people because they are taking advantage and choosing not to get up to use the bathroom but it also makes them feel like they are in control.

We put rash cream on our boys when getting ready for bed.

What is my options if pull ups arent an option? My daughter is almost 9 and is nowhere close to being dry at night. She HATES wearing a pull up because she says they are uncomfortable and cant sleep.

For those with older ones, what have you done/tried if pull ups arent an option? I will only make her wear one if we spend the night away from home.

Has she said how she thinks it is uncomfortable? Is it too tight on her?

It’s just how kids think. They know if they are already wet it doesn’t matter if they do it again. It’s not hurting anything so I don’t see any reason to make a big deal about it.

She says the sides are itchy and doesnt like the feel of it. She isnt red or gets any rashes from them though. They arent too tight at all. She still has room to grow into the xs of the goodnite ones and the others for the older kids. She was in the 5-6T pull ups the last time I bought them.
