Same here - a fed, DS only applied to 1 school and waiting to hear; if its a no we will stay at our preK-12 catholic.

Two great schools. The better fit depends on you and your kid.

I agree with others that both are fabulous options. Congratulations! What does your daughter think? We faced this same tough decision a few years ago, and in the end my daughter made the final decision based on her gut. I am a BMS parent and happy to answer any questions about the upper school.

Son applied and accepted at his one and only - Loyola Blakefield Class of 2032! Good luck to everyone's children!

We were accepted to:
1. St. Paul’s
2. Gilman
3. Boys’ Latin
4. Gerstell Academy

Not accepted at McDonogh

DS is entering K… leaning towards St. Paul’s but very happy with our options.

Take a look at St Paul’s upper school. They just ended the IB program bc so few boys were actually earning the diploma. DS graduated a couple of years ago and only 4 kids of about 24 who attempted full diploma did well enough to earn diploma. And only 1/3 of the class even attempted the program. Not very strong academics.

Many families are not looking for ‘strong academics’ in the first place.

Maybe not, but wouldn’t you want the option?

The beautiful thing about the Baltimore private school scene is at there are so many different, good, options. It really is about where you and your kid feel most comfortable, especially for LS.
Good luck
To all!

Because I was curious about this/note to ppl applying in future-

Gilman sent an email at 10a, and followed up w a personal gift delivery for our son (they texted to see if we were home/asked where to leave if we weren’t)

Friends did an email, followed by a call, and a medium sized envelope that arrived same day in the mail but hadn’t shown up on my usps informed delivery.

DD got accepted to NDP and Maryvale! Very excited for her. Now waiting on her to decide which one to accept.

Agreed - we didn't bother applying as emails went unanswered re. the IB program which was our main interest.

True - similar to sending your child to college because of the frat scene or sports. Universities like the ivies, Carnegie Mellon and others attract different students that are there first and foremost for academics and their future - not to watch football games.

Because students who want a more well rounded education don’t care about their future? And lol and Carnegie Mellon being in that sentence.
