W&L vs Roanoke

No staff came around to the tables and just said, hey, thanks for coming. The presenters just kind of dropped names of people and assured us about 50 times, I kid you not, that they could find a job with the alumni network. No pics really showing students doing much. One senior read an essay that was flat.

I was at ODU last weekend and just the session we had with the assistant dean for engineering on what we could expect blew Roanoke out of the water. The speakers and the professionalism of the staff hosting the event made an effort to get us excited about the school.

Today, the engineering guy was "running late" today and we had a 4 hour drive home so that was really, really lame. And my DS was interested in business as a minor. The lady was baffled that their free trial to their QR code on the flyer had expired. Didn't offer to answer questions about anything, just said, oh, our bad, guess we should get that looked at. At the price they are charging, for an already admitted student, it was a let down.

We had a COMPLETELY different experience -- though to be fair, my kid is not interested in engineering.

My DC is considering, and we really liked it!

What did your DC like about Roanoke?

It's GORGEOUS. Friendly. Homey. We felt like everyone we spoke to really wanted to be there.

My kid likes the mountains, and they're there for the taking.

I’m not sure how this is a question. Of course W&L is better.

W&L is a top 20 SLAC. Consistent top 15 before the USNWR ranking methodology change.

Roanoke? Seriously?

Get real.
