It is sad how utterly unaware of just how stupid you sound. Population of Paris: 2 million Annual visitors to Paris: ~50 million Population of Rome: 2.76 million Annual visitors to Rome: ~30 million |
In Paris, everyone is actually looking at you.If your attire is unacceptable, the Parisian will use nonverbal cues to let you know. |
Agreed, will you look out of place touring the Louvre in Athleisure. No. Other tourists will be wearing the same thing. However if you plan on strolling in th Marais and popping into shops you will get different treatment if you are dressed smartly or dressed like a frump, |
| I lived in Europe and people do not wear leggings. So tight and inappropriate in any setting other than the gym. No one wants to see every crevice of your butt or your camel toe. Except creeper men. |
Well also in Europe this outfit is sloppy pajamas, but in Japan it would be pretty indecent |
Sigh. Americans are not the world. Annual *US* visitors to Paris, ~2 million. So that’s 48 million tourists who know better! |
| Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. You aren't going to see those people again, nor do they care about your dressing. |
Yeah, it would be considered very indecent in Japan. |
|
I bet OP also wants to “live like the locals” and wants all the off the beaten path activities and sites.
You want to live like a local? Get a job, go to the dry cleaners, do the dishes and laundry. So insufferable. Just enjoy your trip and get wringing your hands over silly stuff like this. They know you’re an American tourist simply by your face and mannerisms. |
OP, European here. How are you build? I usually wear some wider leg wool pants, comfy low heel boots, a cashmere sweater and a wool coat for casual outings. Statement jewelry helps with the outfit too. |
Sigh. Sorry you’re fat. |
Haha, completely the opposite. But try harder |
I’d wear pants like the Lululemon Swift wide legged pants (Athleta makes similar pants) which are very comfortable but look nicer than leggings for european travel. Ime these pants look cute with sneakers, flats, etc. |
| Be yourself, be kind to all, have a good time, don't worry about fashion. |
| My adult DC has lived in either London or Paris for the last six years so I’ve visited like a local several times. If you wear that outfit on the street people would assume that you are either coming or going from the gym. They simply don’t wear athleisure the way Americans do. No one will call you out but if your goal is to try to blend in, I’d avoid it. |
