AP Java doesn't count for a tech credit, right?

So I'm leaning toward AP CS Princ next year, just in case there is some issue with AP Java not counting in the end, and also because it's a weighted class. (And it will be nice to get one more requirement out of the way next year!)

So, AP Java DOES indeed have a pre-req of either AP CS Principles or Comp Prog 1? And is that pre-req at all schools that offer AP Java? Questions continue...

MCPS lists a pre-req for AP Comp Sci A (JAVA), and the counselor will tell you the same. However, talk to the science/tech/comp sci department at your kid's HS. See if they have ever granted an exception. If so, the sci/tech/CS department will need to coordinate with your kid's counselor in order to allow them to enroll for AP CS A (JAVA) without the pre-req.

My kid took it a few years back w/o any prerequisites. Seems to vary by HS.

Are MS parents supposed to go chasing and nagging the HS staff right now during course request window, to make up for the HS staff hiding the relevant information?

Or talk to teachers in early fall after they’ve met the kids?

Both are weighted.

You can get the tech credit over the summer without wasting a year in the worst AP course of them all.

It’s because MCPS admin can’t find their own face with both hands.
