Trump did this last term. Frankly the BLM is still crippled by the people they lost.

Because it plays well back home to their constituency.

The fact that it won’t save any money or reduce any numbers is irrelevant. They can run on, “look at what I did!”

I wish it were that simple. It's far more insidious than PR, they are looking to systematically dismantle the US government and sell it for parts, just like Russia did in the 90's.

Step 1 is brain drain by attrition, like moving the agency to places nobody with other options would want to move to.

Step 2 is stuff the agencies with sycophants who will sabotage the agency from within

Step 3 is point to those crippled agencies that no longer have the resources or willing staff to do their mission and say "look at this broken agency, wouldn't it be better off gone/privatized?"

Step 4 is sell any valuable agencies to oligarchs, and shut down agencies like the EPA that stand in between companies and bigger profits.

These 4 steps are exactly right and it pains me that more people (voters) either don’t understand it or don’t care. And I suppose there were a couple of pre-steps not listed: demonize the democrats, sow distrust in non-right wing media, and elevate right-wing media.

+1. Agree with all of this. I just have a handful of years until retirement so I will stick with it and I hope that works out, but I’m encouraging my kids to enjoy do something not related to the government.

I voted for Kamala Harris, just to set the context.

I think all 4 steps make sense, and they should do it. The amount of waste in the Government agencies is unbelievable.

Govt employees are just milking tax payer money. I love what Trump is doing. I hope he does all the above and much more. The era of lazy government bureaucrats taking advantage of taxpayers should be over.

All of you guys are just complaining because you are afraid that you might have to work 8 hours a day.

I wasn’t doing 8 hours in the office so there’s that 🤷🏾‍♀️.

There is no chance you voted for Harris.

Sure, Jan.

That would be less than normal for many people on my agency. So , sure.

Look, I’ll do whatever they tell me to do. Don’t get sad when things you took for granted, like your internet and phone service, or your food safety, take a turn for the worse. Agency’s have been resource strapped for years and everyone with any experience knows it. Is there waste? Sure, but the U.S. government is the largest employer in the world. There is no such thing as a perfectly efficient organization. Chasing efficiency in itself becomes inefficient at this scale.

Exactly!
If it's so important for me to be in the office 40 hours a week to do my job, I will be a hell of a lot less inclined to answer the phone when it rings at 3am.

This is correct. And now I'm even more depressed than I was.

Yea, I do believe that the new Administration will seek to downsize the federal government to an extent, which isn’t shocking for Republicans.

But the tinge of hysteria is a bit much.
