It means that cities should be a short part of another trip or your child will never learn to love museums, cultural sites and walking. Do Seattle for a couple of days, then the San Juan Islands for whale watching, etc. Be more creative. |
And this happens on every one of these threads. People claiming they make 2m and their annual travel budget is only 15k. People are lying. We travel extensively at luxury hotels and resorts and these places are always full, costing minimum 25k/week for a regular room. |
That would be a dream! I'll look into it. I was assuming a trip like that might be twice as much. |
What is the point of this post? I never said it was a luxury trip. You sound moronic and also a little clueless yourself. I never said we made 2m a year. And this isn't our travel budget for the year, it's one trip. You realize in international locations, there are 5 star hotels under $500.. many options in places like Southeast Asia, Turkey, etc.. I said bonus points if you can make a luxury hotel work in this budget. Four Seasons Istanbul is $225 a night during a peak travel week for US school children. Four Seasons in Hawaii is 1250-2000 the same week. |
We lived in Seattle and have been to multiple of the San Juan Islands (orcas, etc) and Vancouver Island many times! |
Been there! LBI and Cape May. |
Those are at the top of my list for our Budget! I just haven't found the right accomodations in Panama or Belize. Peru is doable in our budget though. Found great flights and a nice hotel in Machu Picchu. My Dh doesn't seem to think the kids will be able to do the hike though. |
OP just seems lazy. Hire a travel agent. |
This flight is brutal. |
This is PP. We have been all over the world with my kid (Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia). My kid doesn’t like visiting cities but that has not stopped us from visiting many, many places (including cities!) |
Take. your. medication. |
We took our kids but didn’t do the trek. So many interesting things to do in the Sacred Valley. You’d still spend a day walking around MP. Maybe go back the next morning if you stay in Aguas. I have plenty of adult friends who hated the trek and were too tired to enjoy MP when they arrived. |
Southeast Asia is budget friendly once you get there. We just did Thailand over the holidays. We went to bangkok and Chiang Mai but you could also do the beaches in the south. My dad did Vietnam and Laos recently. Like others said, Japan is awesome. We did it last June and can’t wait to go back. Hong Kong and Taiwan are also possibilities. |
I agree. Machu Picchu is worth visiting without a trek. Plenty of walking while you’re there. Plenty to see/do in the region. |
You can stay in nicer Marriott properties for under $300/night for four. I stayed at an incredible Airbnb too overlooking Table Mountain cheap and did wine tours and cooking class well under $100/person |
