omg.. one of my favorite stories about the first time I went to work in the UK was when I went to their cafeteria and asked for a sandwich. When they brought it to me, it had one slice of ham, one slice of cheese, one lettuce, one slice of tomato. I am not a big eater, but still I was like 🫨. I told this story to my now spouse who is from the UK, and they laughed. They said, yea, it is kind of like that. My spouse likes to say that the Brits are great at inventing something that other cultures seem to able to perfect so much better than the Brits do. Agree with the US immigrant culture making our food choices one of the best in the world. My Brit spouse is a foodie so they also appreciate the diverse food cultures here. |
I mean to me that is a large sandwich. The sandwiches here are obscene. I used to eat one slice of bread, butter or mayo on it and one slice of lunch meat on top for breakfast all the way through school. How did Romans invent hamburgers? |
We have small families and many people don’t live near relatives. There is no way to cool multi course meals without major waste. |
