Anonymous wrote:DD just got accepted to Wesleyan! We are so over the moon. 3.97 UW at DC charter, TO, unofficially top 5% of class, 12 APs (reported 8 5s and 2 4s), good but not insane ECs with leadership experience, same with awards. Submitted 2d arts supplement but not looking to major or minor in art.

Congratulations! My kid is a freshman and loves it. Very special place.

Same and same experience! Congrats!

Congrats! That is such an underrated amazing college. Your child is going to do amazing things!

My DS is an alum. He loved it. So happy for your DC—it’s a really special place. Congratulations!

NP. DC also headed to Carleton. Thanks for sharing this! It matches the welcoming energy we felt when we visited. Congrats pp!

Congratulations to the Carleton admits! It’s a fantastic school. My good friend is an alum and had the best experience there. My son (class of 22) applied but didn’t get in. He really liked it when visiting.

Congratulations! I’m a physician and Wes alum, and Wes set me up for acceptance to a phenomenal MD/PhD program, as well as a rewarding and meaningful career. Well done and best of luck to your kid!

Wow! Impressive! Assuming your daughter is still taking AP classes her senior year, your daughter is 1 of only about 500 students in the entire world taking that many AP's!

We toured some Ivies and pretty sure our kid would’ve gotten into at least one . But didn’t want city or big school and wanted to play a sport in a non D1 setting. Chose Williams for the size and fact that the professors are all dedicated to undergrads. Can try for Ivy for grad school maybe.

Point is… not all kids apply to schools only based on rank. We all felt Williams had what Ivies have but in a smaller setting

Maybe she should have applied to Yale instead? That's a lot of unique accolades and firepower and effort just to go to a tiny LAC. I think she could have gone to an Ivy league school with a larger and more impressive alum pool.
That’s funny. My daughter really dislikes Yale and would not have wanted to attend at all. If prestige were her primary concern, she’d have gone to Princeton. She didn’t choose Pomona and then begin doing all this; she achieved a ton and then realized Pomona was the school for her.

Now, no more lectures.

Anonymous wrote:I can't believe it, but Pomona acceptance! Submitted SAT 1550, private/boarding school in DC, but the most important part was definitely extracurriculars. Documented the life of an indigenous tribe during an anthropology ethnographic study, participation in Telluride, recipient of the PPIR, and a film club president. Applied with intent to major in IR and History. So rare for anyone at DC's school to pull a Pomona acceptance too!

Congrats and welcome to the coop! The time is going to fly by! While she’s there make sure she has Teo’s omelets and goes on an Outing club trip!! I still remember my orientation backpacking in Yosemite to this day!
